What?! I assisted on this show! I didn’t know anyone saw it!
How was it!?
MIDDLETOWN
(Still in previews) at THE VINEYARD.
Brand new play by delicious WILL ENO of THOM PAIN (BASED ON NOTHING). Like, THOM PAIN, it’s got this dreamy sense of…why am I a human and how do I relate to the universe? And the answer is…who knows, but you are not alone, but you are definitely alone.
Highlights? A scene where someone in a space shuttle radios down to planet earth. Starry as it should be. Surprise at the end of act one.
Almost too many questions to digest…but I think it’s good to feel full at the end anyway.

Realistic faces and hands over an abstract, often gold, background. Sounds familiar.
Still pretty incredible.
“
For aren’t you and I gods? … I sense in my blood the rotation
of unexplorable universes… .
Listen—I want to run all my life, screaming at the top of
my lungs. Let all of life be an unfettered howl. Like the crowd
greeting the gladiator.
Don’t stop to think, don’t interrupt the scream, exhale,
release life’s rapture. Everything is blooming. Everything is
flying. Everything is screaming, choking on its screams.
Laughter. Running. Let-down hair. That is all there is to life.
